by Bernhard Wöstheinrich
Recording of the live performance from April 19, 2023, at EMEAPP in Harleysville, PA.
EMEAPP, short for the Electronic Music Education And Preservation Project, boasts one of the world’s most extensive and meticulously curated collections of synthesizers, electro-mechanical instruments, amplifiers, guitars, basses, effects, and recording equipment. Their collection includes historically significant electronic music and rock & roll gear, along with unique memorabilia such as Frank Zappa’s kitchen desk.
At EMEAPP, they organize live performances for audiences who appreciate vintage and unique musical instruments, offering musicians the rare chance to play these collectibles. These performances are held in the studio, captured by multiple cameras, and edited live.
For my long-form piece, I chose a vintage Minimoog, an instrument as beautiful as it is iconic. I integrated it into my performance setup, which includes Ableton Live, a push controller, and a keyboard.
