Live recording of a private concert performance at Castle Studios on March 8, 2021.
Using the capabilities of the amazing Castle Studios, Magnet was recorded by mic’ing and re-amping all the electronic signals, turning them into “real” acoustic vibration. An actual reverb room, metal reverb plates and rotary speakers, plus the resonating strings of nearby grand piano have been picked up by microphones. These signals were used exclusively for this mix.
Magnet is not only about being a showcase of how vintage gear and current electronic sound production technologies can merge. It is an epic musical statement with a physical presence.

Materiaal Series, Part XLI | released April 2, 2021 |
A performance set of improvised electronic music, recorded at March 21, 2021, in Berlin, Germany.
Composed, programmed, and recorded in real-time by a crazy mind and his laptop. No prepared sequences, patterns, or melodies used.
The artwork Christine Kriegerowski has created for this issue of the Materiaal Release Series shows Bernhard in his childhood, imagining how he would one day become a musician, and then reminiscing about his childhood again.
Recording of the second session together with the artist Wolfgang Spahn, taking place at Wolfgang‘s studio at Gerichtshöfe, January 22, 2021; district Wedding in Berlin. In these sessions we are sounding out and exploring possibilities for our collaboration project.
