centrozoon – 217 release series

The complete edition

In November 2016 centrozoon, consisting of Markus Reuter and myself, went on a 20th anniversary tour to the US.
On this tour we were mixing our space music and experimental electronica in varying ratios, depending on the nature of the context we were performing in.
Having started to perform together in 1996, this series of concerts is a personal celebration of a long-term artistic collaboration.

We recorded each of those performances and we are making them available in our 217 series releases.

George Bley, or tour manager, driver and jack-of-all-trades, wrote down a few lines of his very personal reflections for each evening & release.

These recordings are unedited and the mix is just like what was going out to the P.A. that night. That might include clicks and digital dropouts.

centrozoon – Vacuum Love, Vol. 3 (Archive Series)

Vacuum Love, Vol. 1-5 is the first batch of centrozoon’s archival releases. It was recorded live to 2-track DAT in and around October 1998, years before centrozoon released their first official album. The music is presented as is, uncensored. These sessions (some of which were recorded live in the studio, some live on stage) hint unmistakably at what was to come.

We’re proud to finally being able to present this music in its entirety. There are some technical flaws with some of the recordings, but we’ve left them untouched in order to not mess with the flow of the improvisations. This music is the seed of centrozoon as we know it.

Release: Centrozoon – Circulaar

We recently discovered this EP, which was released as a limited edition cover CD for a city journal in Gütersloh, Germany. We don’t even know which year it was. Probably 2002 or 2003.

The track “Dissolve” is instrumental version of the song with the same name with the singer Tim Bowness from the album “Never trust the way they do“.

centrozoon – fire

“Fire” documents the complete evening of centrozoon recordings at the foyer of Gütersloh’s town hall in June 2011.

Taking place five months ahead of the “We Will Tongue You 2011/2012” Tour, the Fire session was scheduled with the primary intention of recording audio and video material to promote centrozoon’s renewed intention of presenting their music live, and to acquire more gigs for the tour. It also marked the band’s first time playing together in over 18 months, so while there was no audience present, the recordings served both as a “sound check” and as way to shorten the wait until the tour.
