A studio session recorded on December 6, 2024, Berlin, Germany.
The session was recorded in one go, with no overdubs and no pre-arrangements.
In 1987, artist Jochen Liedtke created a remarkable piece of art: a two-meter tall, 100-kilogram heart sculpture made from the sheet metal of the former Görlitzer Bahnhof in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. This impressive object was welded in the legendary SO36, in a workshop called “Herz Werft” (Heart Shipyard). The SO36 is a Berlin cultural center known for its open scene and diverse event calendar since the 1970s.
The “Heart” is more than just a sculpture. It is a testament to Berlin’s turbulent history. Made from the remnants of a bombed-out railway station, which became the birthplace of the alternative scene in the 1980s, it symbolizes the transformation of a place and the power of art to keep history alive. Today, the “Heart” finds its permanent home in the a place that was known as the “Prinzessinnengärten” (Gardens of Princesses) until 2020, a green oasis in the middle of the city that emerged from a former wasteland.
