Tabotago live in concert in Nov/Dec 2024

für die deutsche Version bitte hier klicken

TaboTago was originally a tribute to the legendary Edgar Froese, who, with Tangerine Dream, shaped one of the most influential and pioneering branches of Krautrock: the “Berlin School” with its magical sequencer ostinatos, surreal atmospheres, and soundscapes that remain unmatched to this day.

In their live performances, vast soundscapes are explored, ranging from dynamically excessive to deeply atmospheric. TaboTago has found its own identity between tradition and modernity. While the influences of Krautrock and the so-called Berlin School are still clearly audible, the band’s references also current styles of Electronica.

Thus, TaboTago’s concerts are always daring balancing acts, where the prepared and the unforeseen merge into a magical trip.

Deutsche Version

TaboTago – Sessions 010 – 20220422 Live at Zionskirche Berlin

TaboTago SESSIONS 010

Recorded live on April 22, 2022 in the Zionskirche (Church of Zion), Berlin, Germany

in April 2022 the band TaboTago again was invited to perform at the history-charged place of the Zionskirche (Church of Zion) in Berlin.

In this live performance, which consists of two sets, TaboTago pays tribute to the history-charged place that is the Church of Zion. Among other things, the church gained importance as Dietrich Bonhoeffer was the pastor here. Bonhoeffer was a renowned theologian who was involved in the German resistance against National Socialism.
Shortly before the end of the GDR, the Church of Zion was a center of the opposition.

TaboTago – Sessions 009 – 20211217 Corroding Modernism

A studio session recorded on December 17, 2021, Berlin, Germany.
The session was recorded in one go, with no overdubs and no pre-arrangements.

With this release we are referring to “Internationales Congress Centrum Berlin” (abbreviated ICC Berlin), one of the largest conference centres in the world. It is 320 metres long, 80 metres wide and 40 metres high. It opened in 1979 as sort of a counterpart to another iconic futuristic building in Berlin, the Palace of the Republic, which had opened only three years before.

The ICC Berlin is a landmark of German post-war architecture, in which the spirit of an optimistic modernism is very present.

But if you look at the building up close now, the corrosion is already pretty obvious. In addition to that, the whole building is contaminated with asbestos. It seems that it became a symbol of decay of the promises for a better future that we were once given.

TaboTago – Sessions 008 – 20211014 Cloister Vault

A studio session recorded on October 14, 2021, Berlin, Germany.
The session was recorded in one go, with no overdubs and pre-arrangements.

The title of this Session release is inspired by the cloister vault at the Magdeburg Cathedral.
The Magdeburger Dom survived the trials and tribulations of the centuries. The cathedral has a cloister that connects to the south side of the building like a kind of corridor or gallery.
Walking attentively through this ambulatory, one can feel the reverberations of the many events that have unfolded around this spiritual and unique place, which is yet seems to be such a peaceful place right in the midst of a busy city.
