MUSIC IS: an interview by Anita Soukizy

“Music always has this quality of like pointing out to something I always knew ever since, there’s a certain wholeness, I don’t have to worry about and music seems to point out to that and then meditation is something in the same way, and it also gives me this sense of coming home, being home. I can now be at any place and if I meditate I remember that I’m home”.

This conversation with Anita Soukizy took place in Berlin following a recording session with David Rothenberg and Ali Sayah and a group meditation session led by me. We talked about the hook that led me into the music world, my first album, and some of my remarkable productions. We also delved into the meaning of dreams and meditation and their impact on music.

Reichenhall – Propane & Champagne

Like a merry-go-round, the sound pieces repeat on a rotating principle.
Everything spins and twists like a bunch of amusement rides.
Together they form a sonic backdrop to a fairground of curiosities. The undulating movement of the chain carousel can be seen from afar.
Above this scenery, pilots experiment with self-crafted flying vehicles.
Acrobats, ventriloquists and bear tamers are in ecstasy as the sound of engines, sonic booms and rides mix. Balloonists rise for the first time. The dance begins.

Audio Teaser

As a variation of my occasional collaborative sessions with my friends Volker Lankow and Andreas von Garnier in Andreas’ studio, the Wilhelmshagen Sessions, this album presents a unique twist. Rather than a collective effort, it features an isolated track, taken out of context, that I recorded in the studio, meticulously edited and processed to create an immersive and expansive ambient experience.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich – Materiaal 061︱Live on Galactic Travels™ 2023

Recorded live to 2-track on WDIY’s Space Music Program ‘Galactic Travels™’ in Bethlehem, PA 18015 on April 13, 2023.

This is the recording of an uninterrupted live performance right out of the studio. The music presented here is the mix just like what was going out to the P.A. that night. The quality of the recording may be slightly compromised accordingly.

The Live-on-Air performance at Bill Fox’ Galactic Travels was the kick-off show for the US tour from April 2023. All other performances will be made available in this series further on.
