Bernhard is a painter of verbs and adjectives, not nouns. Never measly nouns. His work is sometimes organic, bold, biological; sometimes tender; always passionate, intelligent.

Silken waves of light illuminate vast mystery, then stark and jarring contrasts, juxtapositions, whiplash the viewer’s imagination.
